Anybody else think Gotye and Nic Sheff favor?
I have the weirdest
emotional connections to some movies I watch and books that I read.
Currently:
The Lords of Dogtown and books by Nic Sheff
The emotional connection I feel to Nic Sheff’s writing is unreal. I love this man.
I respect this man SO much.
“We All Fall Down” by Nic Sheff and “Beautiful Boy” by David Sheff came in today :) I ordered them both the moment I read “Tweak” by Nic Sheff, which was truly a life-changing book for me. CAN’T WAITTTT to read these two.
“John Lennon says that “living is easy with eyes closed.” I want to close my eyes. I want to close my eyes so badly.” -Tweak
One of my favorite quotes from the whole book.
I’ve never been so emotionally attached to a book in my entire life. I wish I could explain how gripping the emotions this book holds are. For the past week and a half, I’ve been reading every second I can- finding myself putting off other things just so I could finish reading this book. I tried to make it last as long as possible, because I didn’t want the book to end, but I also wanted to read and find out what Nic’s outcome came to be. I have no personal connection to the book in the sense that I relate with drug addiction, etc., but I feel so incredibly enveloped into the character and story of this book. When Nic relapsed from recovery, I was genuinely upset; when he moved forward and made progress into sobriety, I was genuinely happy. I cried when the book ended; partly because I didn’t want Nic’s story to end for me, but mainly because I was so incredibly emotional about the positive ending the book had. I’ve already ordered Nic’s other book “We All Fall Down” and his father’s memoir about his struggle with Nic’s addiction, “Beautiful Boy”. 322 pages of raw emotion that I’ve never experienced in my life. I would reccomend it to anyone.
